The 2009 Festival was so much fun, we decided to commit to producing it annually. Our purpose was, and is, to increase the awareness of the great tradition of Scottish and Irish music ( that gave birth to Bluegrass, Country, and now Celtic Rock ), in Bakersfield, Kern County, and all of Central California.

We also wanted to bring a new entertainment event to Bakersfield. One that showcased the fantastic local talent that already is known throughout the state. Additionally, we wanted to bring great groups from outside the area to draw people from all over to make this an event that will grow.

And we wanted to raise awareness and support for local groups and agencies that need financial help. Last year we raised funds for the Jameson Children's Center. We will continue our effort to support the Center.

The 2011 lineup was:

Molly’s Revenge is a high energy traditional group from Santa Cruz, well known throughout the country, with a sensational piper and a phenomenal fiddler.

Skelpin is an award winning San Diego group with a Celtic Fusion style. They are a world touring, highly talented group.

The iconic Wicked Tinkers are back with their unique and infectious Tribal Celtic style. The Tinkers have been with us a long time and still attract new converts with every performance.

Bakersfield’s sirens of Irish song, strings and accordion, Banshee in the Kitchen, are back with their beautiful renditions of traditional Irish songs andmelodies.

Bakersfield’s longest running Irish/Scottish band, Whiskey Galore, is back with their up on your feet, American bred, Celtic fed, rousing renditions of traditional and pub tunes.

Bakersfields newest Traditional Irish band, O'Shebeen, will share their foot stomping, whiskey drinking, Irish Traditional and Folk Music

The BCMF is about the preservation and popularization of Celtic Music, however, peruse and purchase the merchandise and food provided by our vendor friends while you are there.

The BCMF supports the Jameson Children’s Center and we hope you will help us in that endeavor.
