The following You Tube video portrays Kern County's own James Zoppe in Built to Spill's "Conventional Wisdom" official music video. Watch the video to witness the jousting skills of the Alliance Knights. Then come to our Games to see them in person!

American Jousting Alliance will also be at vendor at the Scottish Games. Stop by our booth to shop the merchandise.

As part of the Scottish Games & Gatherings James Zoppe and the American Jousting Alliance is proud to present 2 different Shows.

The 1st entitled “Skill-at-Arms and Medieval Jousting 101”, will consist of step by step methods of how to learn the skill-at-arms equestrian games of ring Spearing, Spear Throwing and Shield quintain Hitting. (And perhaps a contest or two)

The latter part of the 30-minute presentation covers the subject of sport jousting, medieval style. James Zoppe will explain how jousting is actually learned. The Alliance Knights will demonstrate how this method works, how effective it is and most importantly how to keep it safe.

At the conclusion to this training presentation the basic tournament jousting rules are explained. After which time 2 Knights clash in a tournament jousting match.

Audience members will be given scorecards and actually judge and score the match. The Knight with the highest score will take his victory lap.

The Knights will stay for a meet, greet, and question and answer session afterward.

The 2nd presentation entitled, “Joust a Outrance”, (Joust of War) in another matter.

It’s all fun and games as the Knights demonstrate their prowess against each other, with various weaponry. The jousting is fun and friendly, at least at first. As testosterone and egos would have it someone gets upset. And when people get upset that are riding 1800-pound warhorses, wielding 10 foot lances and carrying 17-pound shields watch out!

One Knight challenges the other to the classic “Joust a’ Outrance”, or Joust of War. What follows is a shield pounding, lance breaking, and body slamming bang up good time!

Come see for yourself, you’ll be glad you did.
