High Ground is a new band composed of old friends who have played music together for many sweet years. Ron Edsall, a man of many instruments, enjoys teaching as well as playing. With a love for precious ancient tunes and the ability to bring them to life, he has introduced much good music to his home town of Frazier Park. Wife Barbara Edsall  plays a steady and sure upright bass. She has named her bass "Thumper" and sometimes describes herself as "the percussion section". With sweet and haunting vocals, she loves to keep the old songs alive. Fiddler Michelle Nosco, the daughter of two musicians/music teachers, has all the passion, technique and creativity to inspire just about anybody. She has been dubbed by Barbara as "the velcro girl"--she doesn't have to learn music so much as it sticks to her. The three are familiar faces at the Bakersfield Highland Games, and have variously played with Rose of Tejon, Fire on the Mountain, and Ruby's Dream. They all especially enjoy Celtic and Appalachian music, and have played for contra dances, weddings, grand openings, and any other occasion with a heart for music.
